Ooh, the Blue Flax Lily fruits are edible! Have you tried them yourself? Would they be worth making a jam or such out of? Lovely flowers, too.

Kingia - is that style of growth also exhibited by palms? Fascinating that they're quite so slow to grow, but then, nobody ever grumbled about oaks being slow.

Re Dianella - nope, I haven't eaten them myself. I didn't know they were edible. However, the seeds of some are described as mildly toxic, and that eaten too much can cause dizziness. The fruit itself is described as sweet and nutty, so I don't know how suitable they'd be in a jam. I can't find any examples of blue flax lily jam online....

And palms grow in a similar form - a meristem at the top of the trunk putting out long, replaceable leaves. Same idea, probably
