So I haven't posted in a coon's age (not sure where that saying comes from, but there it is...), mainly because I think all you basically know what's going on with me these days. For those who don't, I'll lay it all out now so we're all on the same page.
My doting girlfriend Liz and I will be moving to Denton in August. Well, technically, SHE will be moving in mid July, and I will be moving in mid August. She wants out of here, and I want to get her there...then she has nowhere to run...mwa haa. The reason for this is that I have several things to do with the group that I'm still contracted for, including two faculty positions at music camps in Mexico, so even if I COULD leave early, I don't really want to. Looks good for my resume, and it should be fun.
We will be moving into the apartments in Denton called Mack Park, and if you guys remember where I lived my first year in Denton (that little upstairs 1 bedroom apartment on McKinney Street), it's directly across the street :P It's a loft setup, so it should be interesting, and I think fun. Supposed to be 1000 sq ft, so it seems huge. As we have been getting ready to move and deciding on the logistics of the move, we found that we have really almost nothing between the two of us. We shipped 6 boxes of clothes, miscellaneous crap, and other assorted useless things to my mom in Emory, and now our room here in Boston is practically barren. So we are just going to throw all our stuff in the car and drive it down there in the middle of July, unpack for a couple days, then go to Chicago for the second trumpet player in Synergy, Chris's, wedding. We'll stay there for a couple days, see Chicago, then she will head back to Denton, and I to Aguascalientes, Mexico.
This being said, we don't have any stuff. This includes furniture. I had a line on some good furniture for cheap, but that crashed and burned. Ugh. So now we will be in the market for furniture...including, but not limited to, bed, dresser(s), couch(es), recliner(s) (thanks for helping out in this department, Dan), a microwave, and anything else that an apartment might need. If you have suggestions, ideas, comments, or concerns, let me know.
What else...? Liz and I are doing good. Enjoying one another, but damn are we both bull-headed. We argue, but it feels constructive when we do, so we don't worry about it much. And she's fun...you can all attest to that, yeah?
On the school scene, I'm going to get my doctorate degree from North Texas in music performance on the trombone. I will be in a program there dubbed "Arts Leadership," with classes in Politics and Advocacy, Music Leadership, and Multimedia Applications. Next summer, I will be doing a 10-week internship as well, so it's looking like this program will open a lot of career doors that a performance-only degree would not have otherwise. Should be fun! I'm also considering pursuing some form of work and/or education in audio production. I've always had fun with that aspect of music and, quite frankly, I think I'd be damn good at it. That's a little further down the pipe, but I think it's good to see these things in print at a later time.
Oh also.......I'm coming home for good in a couple months, fuckers! You guys better get your partying hats on, because the Hoss will be back!
...kinda.....can't shirk school as much as I did in my master's but still...it WILL be fun!
