Labcoat Costume

So I went the route of the Mad Scientist costume, as I'm sure a good number of us have, especially those trying to pull something together in time for ComiCon this week. It arrived today, and I'll say right away that it's far from perfect - pretty much standard costume-in-a-bag material, but nothing more can be expected. With a few tweaks, I'm ( Read more... )

Oh, I'm interested! The fiance wants to be Dr. Horrible for Halloween, so any tips and pointers you have will be FANTASTIC 'cause neither of us can sew either, so we were probably going to go with that costume. :D

As far as spray-painting the boots, what kind do you have? If they're glossy, the paint might not stick very well. I'd almost suggest black duct-tape in that case. You could also try a google search to see what kind of paint would hold to a slippery material.

I haven't tried this, but here's the advice I've been given...

You need a special kind of paint for plastic - regular paint doesn't bond well, and tends to peel off. But you can but plastic-bond spray paint at just about any hardware store. Just be sure to read the can to make sure that's what you're getting, and prep your surface-to-paint by roughing it up very lightly with fine-grit sandpaper.

Thanks, I did manage to find some black "Fusion Plastic" spray paint at JoAnne's - I think it'll do the job! (:
