You have a very interesting and unique sound. My question is can you sound more like Green Day?

Against Me! is set to release its new album, White Crosses, sometime in June. Unfortunately there's this thing called the internet, which is like a time machine of sorts, and you can get the thing now if you want. And I did. This album is crap and I blame producer Butch "Accidental Genius" Vig for it.

Holy shit, it is overproduced garbage.

I realize I'm not gonna get another Reinventing Axl Rose and I'm fine with that. New Wave at its core was a fundamentally sound album and deserved its accolades. I thought that album was overproduced by Butch Vig. I was wrong. He can overproduce much, much more. Somehow he's convinced the band that sounding awesome is old hat and the direction modern music is going is aural diarrhea. Warren Oakes got out at the right time.

And like its predecessor I can hear good songs trapped in this mess. Its harder to hear than it was on New Wave, but there are some salvageable songs in there that might sound good live.

If the song "I was a teenage anarchist" is to believed than the band I loved, the band that pulled me back into punk rock has moved on and is not gonna look back.

"I was a teenage anarchist, but then the scene got too rigid.
It was a mob mentality, they set their rifle sights on me.
Narrow visions of autonomy, you want me to surrender my identity.
I was a teenage anarchist, the revolution was a lie.

Do you remember when you were young and you wanted to set the world on fire?"

Fuck. When are the Riverboat Gamblers gonna put out a new album?
