Fuck fuck fuck! I'm really starting to regret ever buying a laptop. I think i just permanently broke the damn thing.

Ok, i'm pretty computer savvy, i've built a few machines in my day. So my laptop has been overheating every 30 or so minutes on graphically intensive programs... must be something wrong with the heat sink? I download the manual, start taking it apart piece by piece... i'm up to 30-40 screws now, all different sizes... no problem... hey what the hell, how does this cable come undone that's holding my keyboard in place? *snap*...

...

Yeah, i broke a tiny TINY piece of solder that holds the connection for the power button. I'll never turn this piece of shit on again. Bye bye $1,000.

I don't really know what to say about this. I'm probably not going to be able to afford a new one any time soon. The thing was a huge time sink and a piece, and didn't do what it was supposed to, AND it never really was convenient in the ways i hoped it would. Take a laptop to class? Goff off on laptop. Go outside? Screen glare and 1.5 hour battery life send you for cover. Lan party gaming? Nope, things too crappy to play any decent lan games. Gaming in general? Nope, it chokes and dies on games released in 1999.

So all in all... as a computer it was a cheap, terrible failure. At least i could still check my email.

I have no idea what to do now. I might be able to bring my old computer back with me, but it inherited parts from my brother's rig (which was great before he upgraded it to BEASTLY PWNSAUCE) and my dad uses that computer a lot.

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise? Getting away from my laptop always seems to improve the quality of my life.
