The word gourmet is shit. It has absolutely no meaning whatsoever outside of a marketing/advertising context. The restaurant, food manufacturer and coffee dispensary might refer to their product as gourmet. Coffee is okay, but gourmet coffee is great. It is very literally nothing more than the creator's opinion about his own product. Your parents wouldn't say they're fixing gourmet pork chops. Saying gourmet would simply amount to saying they're cooking high quality pork chops... or cooking pork chops very well. It sounds absurd, so we leave that out. No use of the word makes any sense outside of marketing one's own product. It's a stupid, shitty word. And I hear it on a weekly basis, at the very least.
