i wrote the first draft of my study abroad application today...i say my first draft only because i think the advisor might make me change it, haha, because it's not enough like an application essay. one part of it asked me about past experiences travelling abroad, and this is what came out...and i'm gonna post it on here because i've really never written about that trip (and i haven't written in here ina long time)
keep in mind this is in the middle of my application essay
"For some ten or eleven days, hardly a moment went by that I was not wide-eyed with the excitement of seeing new things, new people, new places. Being in a new environment made all of my senses sharper; I was eager to see and I immersed myself in each moment: running up the steps of St. Mark’s Cathedral in London, sleepless now for nearly twenty hours, catching my breath while looking out over all of London; walking through the empty night streets of a Welsch village with my friends, wondering if the villagers we had just sung with till midnight weren’t just ghosts, if this weren’t just some old Welsch ghost town; writing messages to my grandfather in the sand of an Irish beach, looking across the foggy Atlantic Ocean, knowing that for him it was, figuratively and literally, the foggy and uncertain future..."
comments anyone?
