Writer's Block: Birthday Shout-out

Jul 31, 2009 10:02

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, without a doubt. Sure, when it was published it was easily the most romantic of the books so far. But the best part was how perfectly philosophical it was. The idea that a prophecy only matters when the people it concerns take it seriously seriously blew my mind.

In other news, I'm working on my final paper for WR 122, and yet again, I feel like college is merely teaching me to omit important facts in order to formulate a manageable thesis; to dumb down so as to be more cogent; to emphasize quantity of words rather than quality of writing. Surely this is counterproductive to my life goals, which, by the way, are:

1. To win a Pulitzer
2. To get married
3. To own a Betsey Johnson dress.

Superficial, yes, but there you go. Also, a few weeks ago I bought a Betsey Johnson dress for $50. Woo.
