Things with Jemma had been going incredibly well, way better than he ever expected them to go when she came to him with life changing news. It was the type of thing that he had always feared and even though he had put on a brave face, something he had conditioned himself to do since his father had died, he was worried. There was no question that

The research on the werewolves she promised Sebastian had taken a decidedly darker turn. With an incredible amount of help from the rest of her team, she'd come to a pretty terrible conclusion- the horrors of the camp far more than just the You-Know-Who lackeys she originally thought them to be. They'd spent the entire afternoon in interviews, talking with terrified witnesses and working through Muggle police reports talking about wild animal attacks.
It had been exhausting and she'd only just hit the surface.
When she finally reached the apartment, her body sore and tired from the day, all she wanted to do was rid herself of her suit and curl up next to Drew. Knowing they were having dinner that night got her through it all.
"This smells incredible-" she called, dropping her keys on the foyer table and shrugging off her wool coat.
She slipped out of her stilettos, carrying them in one hand with her purse in the other as she wandered into the kitchen, only to stop in shock at the dining room table.
"Drew- Merlin, this is amazing-"
Reply
"Hey-" He turned towards her, a sheepish sort of grin pulling at his lips.
All the effort was suddenly worth it when he saw that look on her face.
"Are you hungry?"
Reply
No difference.
She was still a puddle of tears as she grinned.
"Starved-" she said, wiping at her eyes. "I don't even know why I'm crying-" she added, with laughter.

Drew dropped the wooden spoon he'd been holding onto the countertop, crossing the space between them in just a few long strides.
That definitely wasn't the reaction he'd been expecting-
"Are you okay? Is something wrong?"
He placed his hands on her shoulders, ducking his head to catch her eyes.

She looked up at him, blinking back the tears, an embarrassed sort of look settling on her face. She shook her head.
"No, no, I'm fine-" she said, sucking in a breath. "It was just a really long day and I came expecting us to order out and you cooked and there are candles and no one has ever done that for me before-"
She laughed, wiping at her tears.
"And I'm just a bloody hormonal pregnant woman who cries a lot-"
Reply
Happy, hormonal crying confused him more than anything else.
"Oh- well, I just-" he started, rubbing the back of his neck.
"I've never actually done this before."
Reply
"You're incredible-" she said, biting on her bottom lip. "The most incredible-"
She reached up on her toes to kiss him gently.
"Best thing to come home to."
Reply
Drew placed a soft kiss to her forehead, breathing in the scene of her familiar shampoo and perfume.
"You want to get comfortable? It's almost ready-"
Reply
She pulled back, giving his hand a squeeze before shrugging herself from suit jacket.
"I'll change and then be right out-" she said.
Reply
"I'll have everything ready for when you're out, okay?" he told her.

So, she slipped into a soft cashmere sweater, drooping a bit from off her shoulder, and a pair of black leggings before tying her hair up into a bun, tendrils of hair escaping as she moved back into the dining room.
"I can't believe you remember how much I love stir fry," she said, shaking her head.
Reply
She looked just as beautiful dressed down in her oversized sweater as she did in her well made, tailored suites.
"I forgot how much I liked stir-fry until I started cooking it," he laughed.
Reply
"That's because they're really the best of everything," she told him, her eyes taking in the way the table was set, the smell wafting from the stir-fry causing her stomach to growl. She briefly held her hand against her abdomen as she settled into the chair beside her.
"How was your day?" she asked him, a smile lighting up her face as she caught sight of her favorite malbec.
Merlin, he'd really put in so much effort.
Reply
"Busy-" he grinned, shooting her a playful look as he took his own seat across from her.
"It was actually sort of fun putting this all together."
Reply
"Yeah?" she asked. "Well, it's really something, Drew. I mean, everything looks amazing and I am.. not surprisingly very hungry-"
Reply
"My mum said it would feel twelve-"
