Luna had wandered out onto the grounds following the Nargles that she was able to see with her special goggles. As she followed them with her eyes she saw that they seemed to stop around a young man on the grounds.
She took her goggles off and stared at him for a moment. She recognized him as Drew Kirke from Gryffindor. He never really talked to her but he never seemed mean to her either. He seemed to be busy, but she wanted to talk to him to see if she could tell that his head was full of Nargles. If she could tell just by talking to people, then she'd be able to find them a lot easier than now.
She walked over to him, standing behind him for a long moment before sitting down next to him, making sure not to stare at his work. She always hated when people did that to her, but she really did want to talk to him.
For a long moment Drew hadn't even noticed anyone around him. He was entranced by his latest creation, which was mostly just a charcole sketch of the lake. But he took the time to carefully shade to add demention.
It wasn't until a breeze pulled in and he finally looked up that he noticed her from the corner of his eye.
"Luna, how long have you been sitting here?" he asked, almost laughing. "I didn't mean to ignore you."
Luna smiled dreamily and shook her head. "Oh no, I didn't think you were. I was just trying to see if I could tell you had Nargles in your head. But I believe they have left." She put her goggles on and then took them right off again. "Yes, they've left." She put the goggles into her bag and made herself more comfortable. "I believe that the creative juices that you produce make them flee."
She smiled at his picture. It was very good. "You know, I dabble a little in paint, but I'm not nearly as talented as you are. Though I'm quite gifted in clothing design. But only magically."
Drew smiled, enjoying the quirkiness that Luna offered. She was different and didn't try to hide who she was. It was refreshing.
"Do you have any of your painting here at school? I bet they're pretty wicked," he told her, imagining all of the creatures she would paint. "I've been sketching for years now. I wasn't very good in the beginning though. But now I have dozens of these books all filled up."
Luna smiled softly. "No, I don't usually paint on parchment or canvas. I stick to thinks like ceilings or stone walls. You know--interesting surfaces to add to the painting."
She glanced at his sketch again. "I think I've seen some of your work. But only parts of it when you're sketching at dinner and I happen to be at the Gryffindor table."
Luna didn't usually have conversations with boys due to her apparent awkward nature. But she found that she was enjoying her conversation with Drew. He was always overly kind to her, she thought. Probably due to him feeling odd around her, but that was okay. She was used to following her own drum and when people were kind to her, for whatever reason, she took it.
"That is wicked. I always thought about adding something to my walls at home but I usually don't paint," he told her, thinking about the possibilities. "I think you just inspired me to start a summer project."
It wasn't uncommon for people to notice Drew's drawings. He usually had charcoal on his fingers, unless he had one of his favorite comic books on hand. There was no way even his love of sketching would ruin his comics.
"You've probably also seen them in class," Drew added, laughing a bit. "Especially in Herbology. I can never stay focused enough and always end up drawing in my notes."
She nodded and giggled softly. "Yes I believe you're right. Your stuff is always so good." She said smiling honestly.
She reached into her bag and pulled out two apples and offered one to Drew. "Would you like an apple?" she said smiling softly.
Luna never offered her food to people. It was an odd move, but she thought he looked a little skinny. ((i don't even know where I'm headed with this lol I'm sleepeh!))
"Yeah, I'm actually starved," he told her. But the truth was, Drew was always hungry. The boy had a huge appetite. Especially in the nicer months when we was more active, or tried to be. Drew was not the most graceful and sports did not come naturally to him but he tried.
Luna smiled politely and took a bite of her own apple. She stood up and grinned dreamily. "Well I guess I'll be going then. I'll leave you to your work."
Luna always prided herself on knowing when someone wasn't really interested in talking but just being too polite to say so. "I'll see you later, Drew."

"Thanks, Luna."
