For Mandy

The last week had been stressful. Drew wasn't necessarily used to dealing with stress, except retreating into his comic book world. However, this type of stress was different. It wasn't about school - it was about relationships. Every time he opened his sketch pad, he found himself drawing things from his childhood - the boathouse his father would take him to or the place in the country the family would vacation.

He knew it all had to do with his mother's new boyfriend. When Drew finally got around to reading her letter he recognized the name of his 'potential new step-brother'. Deep in his mind he knew he would eventually have to introduce himself. But meeting Terry meant so many things Drew wasn't ready to admit. It meant this life was real - his father wasn't ever coming back.

He hadn't slept the night before and kept trying to think of ways to relieve the stress of it all. And only one person came to mind - Mandy. They hadn't spoken much since the ball and that was mostly his fault. In avoiding the Terry situation he was also avoiding everyone else. But in the morning, after breakfast, he realized the perfect way to fix everything.

It wasn't difficult getting the house elves to pack them a picnic lunch. They were extremely nice and happy to help. It probably helped that Drew always told them he loved eating their feasts more than his mother's cooking. When the basket was all set up down by the lake, he ran to find Mandy - hoping that she would be free.

"Hello there, beautiful," he greeted, finding her in the hall.
