Just saw the transformer movie

I can say without a doubt I know where the money went. That movie looked fantastic. While all the actors were below the normal 20 mil/movie type actors, everyone did a great job. I was really impressed with their delivery. Normally, I'd expect a few groaners or even an ouch or two to some cheesy line, but I can't think of a single line right now ( Read more... )

I can name plenty that was cheesy and wrong.

-The love interest could've been removed from the film entirely.
-The line Dink has
-Lots of cheesy lines like that -_-
-The ending fight was SO anti-climactic

...I will admit the "One shall stand, one shall fall" did get me a bit uhm...aroused >_>

I still had fun.

All the cheesy lines fit though! They weren't that bad as you make it seem.

Ur a pretentious one aren't you.

I liked all of that stuff and I'm a super huge fan, and thought while the ending fight was a little long, I still found it fitting.

The only gripe I had is I would have liked a re-mixed version of the White Lion recording of the theme song.

Pretentious is if I said it was art or something...

Like I said, I still had fun due to the audience and the topic, but it wasn't close to perfect. This is Michael Bay afterall.

Also I'm fine with the last battle being long, I was referring to the Optimus v Megatron fight. I mean come on Optimus getting his ass kicked and it being so short?

Bah.

How would you have done it better, and what would perfect looked like? That is why I said pretentious, is simply because if you say it was far from perfect, you should have something in mind that is better ( ... )

It would've been easier to make it better:

Put more of the Transformers in it! It seemed to me the film focused moreso on the humans than the Transformers. Give them more screen time. That's what we all came to see afterall.

A real general solution is:
Cut Michael Bay, have someone competent direct. The film was filled with numerous throwaway characters with little-to-no character development, numerous subplots that go nowhere and don't really contribute to the film, scenes meant to evoke emotion, but don't, mismatched pacing, etc.

Like I said, I had fun given the topic, but it was FAR from perfect. This is the guy who did Pearl Harbor afterall...

2.5 hr long action movie and you would have developed more transformers plot lines?

I'm gonna disagree with you there on that one.

it isn't like I ever gave a shit about bonecrusher in the old show anyway.

Besides, Michael Bay makes things go BOOM good. that is all I really needed.

Also, I don't know what you are talking about with the subplots. They were as developed as any other action movie this summer. The romance was supposed to be a High School type thing, so it started and ended simply with only a little bit of substance in the middle just like a lot of high school romances do. Sector 7 was a plot device, not a subplot, and the Australian girl just never should have been there in the first place. The army guys kicked the ass, the parents were clueless. So I'm missing you here on the subplot things.

I'm not saying for a longer movie, I'm saying you could've EASILY made the movie about the Transformers moreso than anything else. That's what we came to see afterall. It was more like 75% human garbage 25% Transformers.

You more or less summed up my point which I already stated with everything you tried to argue with. All of the things you mention were A) badly done and B) not necessary and didn't lead to anything to really enhance the film.

Take all of that away and you have robots fighting and it would've been a better movie. That's sad and tells you just how badly he is at making movies for 75% of it to be more or less useless.

Welcome to a Michael Bay Film.
