Thank you so much to everyone who's donated to the Worth Peacock Dress charity project so far. I've not been able to track every single donor down individually to thank them, so I hope this message reaches all who need to see it.
A quick update, for those not yet following
my LJ:
We're over halfway to our $14,000 goal now: at Costume College 2012 I *will* now be decent in a full set of underwear, but we still need your help if this extraordinary dress is going to be made in its entirety!
We're now raising money to build the dress itself, embroidered peacock feather by embroidered peacock feather, by using blanked-out images of the back and front of the dress and adding a feather back to it for every $15 donated. (It's prettier than a thermometer). Here's how the image is looking as of today:
We also have additional incentives: nineteen generous donors have now contributed enough to have their names sewn into the dress, and two will receive a beaded peacock feather of their own to commemorate the project and thank them for their generosity.
The reason behind the fabbo costume project is a spectacular adventure: to allow partner Demi and I to take part in a team heading out to Haiti in 7 weeks' time to build a refuge for children orphaned by the earthquake, and as a result of your generous donations, progress is looking good. Having raised the first $5000, I've definitely got a seat on the plane, and Demi is past halfway to that goal too. Then, we just have to raise enough to get us from England to Haiti and back...
This coming Thursday is crunch time, time to visit the doctor for the first set of inoculations, so we need to know by then that we're on that plane. It's a crucial week as we watch the total and hope we make it to a second seat on the plane in time.
Get involved, get your name sewn into the dress and help us to help Haiti by
watching the video and
following the story on my LJ. Thank you.
