All right, I've got a problem. I was working on the sleeve cuffs of my Queen of the Night dress (see a couple of posts down) and the material I was going to use for the cuffs has turned out to be too stiff to lay properly. It's the same material I'm using for the overskirt because I wanted the cuffs to match it. But unfortunately it just looks bad and I don't really know what to do. I suppose I could try putting less material into the cuffs but I've already got a migraine and I just want to give up for tonight. My question is does anyone have any suggestions of what I could do? Either for a fabric alternative that would still look OK with the costume or a way to make the fabric I have work. I don't remember what kind of fabric it is (because it doesn't really matter for the project), but I do know that it is 100% synthetic. The main problem is how stiff it is. It doesn't lay like a lace cuff would, and it doesn't gather as nicely either. I'm basically working with aweful plastic. My other fabric would be just as bad because it's very thick and stubborn, and it wouldn't look as nice as the sheer stuff. Help!
In other news, I finished the overskirt so I have some pictures of that. There's only two of them, so I hope it's OK that I didn't use a cut. This is the problem fabric that is pretty pretty pretty but a pain in my backside. Sorry the pictures are so small too, I accidentally resized them to be half the size I wanted.
Here's a detail that hopefully gives a better sense of the type of fabric.
