First Diary
Hi everyone! I just found this community and have been loving all the stuff everyone's posted, so I thought I'd give it a try myself. My name is Katy by the way and I'm a self professed costume nerd. I love making 'em and I love reading about 'em (if you ever need to know anything about the 18th century I'm your girl). Anyways, here's some pictures of the beginning of my Halloween costume. I'm going to be the queen of night, Magic Flute style. My camera is broken, so please excuse the poor picture quality. Also the mess that's in the background, I'm packing up to go off to college.
A pretty crap original sketch, but it shows the basic concept. My black colored pencil was running out as you can tell. Honestly the only thing I think is drawn well is my hair.
The corset I bought and my pannier on my dress form.
The beginnings of the underskirt. It lays a bit flatter now that I've made some adjustments. I, in my infinite wisdom, decided to do this entire project without a pattern.
The side.
A couple of shots of the pleats, of which I am quite proud. They were not in the original plan, but I like them.
I tried to get a picture of my super duper pretty overskirt fabric, but unfortunately it doesn't photograph well.
And that's all I have as of now. I'm currently draping the overskirt and working on the sleeve cuffs, so more pictures of those to follow.
