So while quite a few things have happened in the last several months, my life is pretty quiet right now.
I had to put down my ol' girl, BJ, in late October. She was 32 years old and I knew it would have to happen at some point. But she was my very first horse that I got when I was just turned 11. I had owned her for over half my life. The next days (esp at work) were hell as one might expect. At least now I'm at the point where I can talk about her without tearing up. This picture is one of the last taken of her, taken about 8 weeks before she died:
Carnie is now getting smothered with rather excessive amounts of affection. At age 12, he better not die on me for a long, long time.
I went to Las Vegas/Disneyland a couple weeks ago. It was awesome...but I unfortunately I discovered my love for gambling. I came out of the weekend about $80 ahead. Which is good, because at one point I was $300 down.
I'm oscilating wildly between wanting to buy a new car and wanting to be responsible and save my money. I could easily afford a (nice!) new car if I had some job security. I can just barely afford to buy a new car and keep enough in my savings account to support me for 6 months if I lost my job. I'm looking at either the 4x4 Chevy Colorado or the 4x4 Nissan Frontier. Do I need a new car? The short answer is no, my Blazer works just fine. But Adam traded in his Lincoln Navigator for a Volvo S60 and my older brother bought a new Nissan Maxima last weekend.
I'm stuck in this very petulant attitude of...dammit I want a new car, too! Either way, I'll probably check out a few dealerships in the coming week. A couple of my buddies from my graduating class at Cal Poly have already bought houses, so at least a car isn't nearly that expensive.
Other than that I've just been anxious to try ne wthings lately. Nicoal and I will be taking a bartending class in January (we'll get certified and everything!), I'm going to take a few snowboarding lessons at Snoqualmie Pass this winter, and I just started looking at possibly taking some flying lessons.
So, in summary, keeping myself busy and out of trouble.
