Mod Post....rules and submissions....PLEASE READ

Mar 27, 2007 14:07

I wanted to do this over the weekend, but I had company in town and well, you know how that goes.

Anyway, I feel the need to go over the Rules for making and posting icons to a challenge. If you haven't read them or are new to the community please take a minute to read this entry.

I have made my notes in bold to better explain.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RULES These are the rules for submitting icons to a challenge. There are not that many, but they are important.
1. You must be a member of the community to enter in a challenge.
2. All icons must meet LJ standards of 100x100 pixels and not more than 40kb in size
3. This is a stillness icontest community. Absolutely no animated icons.
4. All icons must be original...including cropping. Do not use other people's bases.
5. Please do not enter old icons.
6. Please do not post your icon anywhere until the challenge is over.
This one is important: The whole idea of an icon challenge is for people to vote on the icons entered in the challenge based on the skill, effort and time an icon maker has put into their icons. Not to vote on them based on WHO made them. Your icons must remain anonymous until voting is over. This means you should not post your icons anywhere or use them in your own LiveJournal or anywhere else for that matter till I have posted the winners.
7. Please do not ask your friends to vote for you. This is not a popularity contest.
See above. No one but you and me should know who made your icons
8. Please follow the rules that apply to each individual challenge.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think the rest of the rules are self-explanatory. But if you have questions please feel free to ask. These RULES are on the "User Info" page for you to look at anytime you would like.

Onto submitting your icons.......

SUBMISSIONS Submitting your icons to a challenge

Upload your icon to Photobucket or some place that allows direct linking.

Submit icons as a comment to the challenge post only.

Below is how your entry should look when you submit your icons. Actually it doesn't have to look exactly like this, just as long as you have these three elements in your icon submission it will be fine.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Banner = yes/no Do you want a banner if you win something?
The actual image of your icon
The url to your icon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I think that covers it. The reason I am going over the RULES with everyone is because I do not want to have to disqualify icons because someone didn't follow the rules. It's a lot of work getting the voting coded for a challenge and I'd like to have all the information there when I need it. Also I want to be fair to everyone who submitted their icons correctly.

From now on I will not be uploading people's icons to my Photobucket account so that they can be added to voting. (I've had to do this a couple of times.) It is up to everyone to make sure that the url they post with their icon submission works and that wherever you post it allows direct linking.

I feel like such a hard ass, but if I don't go over this stuff now it will start to get crazy and out of hand. And I've got two other communities besides this one to take care of. It can be confusing to my poor little brain to say the least.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Alrighty, now back to the fun stuff! Don't forget about Challenge 5. Harry needs your love. We all know it. ;)
