A little L music

Mar 20, 2011 13:57

Okay, the other night, as I was about to snuggle into to flannel sheets and quilts I saw that Vickita had posted a first letter music meme chock-fll of some of my favorite artists (she's good like that) so after I stopped making dolphin-ish squeaky noises I commented and she gave me L !

Here are the rules: Comment and I give you a letter between A-Z (obviously) and you go and post 5 favourite songs/music videos that start with that letter.

But really, when have you ever known me to stop at five?

YOU GUYS! L IS TOUGH. THERE ARE A LOT OF SONGS THAT START WITH L!

Also...I had to wait until I got home from Maine and by that time my list of songs was up to about THIRTY! I got ruthless and cut it down to FIVE FAVES from Austin Artists and FIVE FAVES from elsewhere. I am still in some pain from having to cut Let it Be Me, La Jolie Blonde, Loco D'Amor, and the Pearl Jam version of Last Kiss. Life is hard.

Austin:

Levelland, James McMurtry You want to know about life in rural Texas? This is about as real as it gets.

Lines Around Your Eyes, Lucinda Williams It's Lucinda. It's good.

Love Struck Baby, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble We lost Stevie Ray to a plane crash just after he had gotten himself cleaned up. Still miss him.

Long Ride Home, Patty Griffin Perhaps I should have mentioned that a lot of my favorite music is melancholic?

Love Vigilantes, Iron & Wine - yeah I know it's a cover of the New Order song. They're great; Sam is better.

Everything Else:

Lawyers, Guns, and Money, Warren Zevon Very likely the tune I would have picked if I had been limited to just one song.

Little Darlin', Buddy & Julie Miller If you don't know Buddy & Julie Miller you're in for a treat. Well, you're in for a treat even if you do know their music...you just know that already.

Little darlin love is not a crime
If it is i'll have to do my time
Lock my heart up throw away the key
I'm a prisoner that don't wanna go free

Low Rising, The Swell Season If you ever have a chance to see Glen Hansard perform live jump on it. He is charisma personified.

Learning How to Love You, John Hiatt John Hiatt with a great backing band. The man knows his way around a love song for sure.

Lonesome Day, Bruce Springsteen This song kills me every single time. The sound is considerably better on the actual recording.

three chords and the truth, lemming-like, such first world problems
