Mar 03, 2011 14:50

Had some time to kill waiting on other people to make up their minds already so I have a mid-week music meme for you! Also, as always, it feels like there is ( Read more... )

three chords and the truth, lemming-like, dorktastic!, addictive behaviors are fun!

You did the artist, which is the hard part so I'll help out on the title! It's "Don't Stop Believin'!"

wish I had one of those snazzy LP to cd converters. the I could put my Monkees LP on my computer :) I used to listen to that a LOT during my crushing on each of the Monkees in turn phase.

idk if you ever listen to the NPR (or maybe APR?) show Sound Opinions (very good music critics) but last week was all about The Monkees! You should check it out online- I'm sure they have a podcast.

3 is When You Say Nothing At All, but I don't know who sings it.

ETA: Oh, and 14 is "Tainted Love" and 17 is "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow." But I don't know who sings them either. *sigh*

Yes and yes and yes. I'll see if anyone gets the artists but you've got at least
partial credit! Remember partial credit? Man, I wish RL worked like that.

Partial credit in real life would be amazing! But thank you for being unreal. :)

ETA: And because I've had it stuck in my head after this exchange, you get some lyrics to identify if you want:

"And maybe we dream to change the way that we feel,
'Cause to dreamers the real world can be unreal."

9. Birdhouse in Your Soul - They Might Be Giants
14. Tainted Love - Soft Cell
18. ...is a Dead Kennedys song but I'm fucked if I know which

AND IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN NEIL MOTHERFUCKING DIAMOND WROTE I'M A BELIEVER. Which, thank god he did not record it because I am not a fan of his music at all (EXCEPT FOR HIS BOTH SIDES NOW COVER BECAUSE, I MEAN, I AM HUMAN). But he wrote a bunch of the Monkees early stuff, didn't he?

IF IT WASN'T HIM IT WAS OBVIOUSLY DYLAN, SINCE HE SECRETLY WROTE ALL OF THE SONGS FOR EVERYONE BACK THEN

YOU ARE NOT MISTAKEN NEIL BAMF DIAMOND wrote it! Although Dylan or Bacharach or Anka would've been reasonable guesses to as they wrote everything else that decade!

So, spot on with the tunes, too and your MF NEIL DIAMOND bonus gets you the title: "Holiday in Cambodia".

btw It pleases me in my very soul that someone your age knows the Dead Kennedys!
