Yep. Fungi from Yoggoth, ya see them in these older sinuses
My recent trip to the Ears, Nose, and Throat guy revealed a large "fibroid mass" nigh to filling my right maxillary sinus. Which seems to explain the chronic sinus and ear infections that have made me such a joy to be around for the last several months. Under direct questioning the ENT guy admitted that "fibroid mass" was indeed a euphemism for tumor. He relaxed a bit when I did not immediately freak out. So the whole mess is to come out a week from tomorrow. ENT guy and his partner, ENT gal, are planning some sort of extreme nasal redecorating ala "While You Were Out" and will be making all sorts of internal modifications that involve removal of enlarged thingees and shaving down of other thingees, also - something may be slipcovered and there will be some faux finishing.
The discovery of the awe-inspiring Cthulhoid manifestation "fibroid mass" (and really isn't it something of a hoot when your doc says to another "Hey, take a look at this" as they gaze raptly at your CT scan results!) is quite a relief as it is just an obstruction that can be removed. A few painkillers, many yards of gauze padding, several days with little splints sticking out of my nose and I may even be able to breathe (instead of faking it).
So in the unlikely event that you see me next week (I plan to be in bed with the last six BSG episodes, McGyver Season 2, and those lovely painkillers) do not be alarmed by the plastic tubes sprouting from my nog. They're only temporary - I hope.
