Another Saturday, Another Meme: Movie Quotes

Nov 27, 2010 18:20

You know, I'm pretty certain that I used to go out on Saturday nights and hear music, see movies, maybe take in a play...you know in the distant past of OH LAST MONTH. Oh well, you guys seem to be stuck with me again this week. In a RADICAL DEPARTURE I have elected to post a MEME! (SHOCKING, I KNOW!) At least it's not more lyrics...

Here are some (possibly) memorable quotes from twenty of my favorite films. I don't know that they are my definitive top twenty but they are all fine films. If you know or would like to guess the film, feel free. I'm afraid these are probably all laughably easy but you can feel superior and all. Bonus points if you can ID the speaker(s) as well. Googling the quotes is REALLY lame and none of you are lame.

ETA: Unclaimed quotes revealed. FWIW I am not at ALL surprised that 12 and 17 went unguessed, 12 was made in 1934 and 17 is from an oft-forgotten Coen Brothers film but I honestly thought that 11 would be totes obvious. Ladies and Gentleman, Annie Hall!

11) ...and I thought of that old joke, you know, the, this, this guy goes to a psychiatrist and says, 'Doc, uh, my brother's crazy, he thinks he's a chicken,' and uh, the doctor says, 'Well why don't you turn him in?' And the guy says, 'I would, but I need the eggs.' Well, I guess that's pretty much now how I feel about relationships. You know, they're totally irrational and crazy and absurd and - but uh, I guess we keep going through it...because...most of us need the eggs.
