More music and booze with Dremiel...the penultimate installment

Aug 02, 2010 10:03

This week on "Drinking and Catching Music with Dremiel" I offer up Dustin Welch who was with Jon Dee Graham upstairs at the Continental last night. The two most obvious things are, of course, that he's NOT AN OLD WHITE GUY WITH A GUITAR BUT, RATHER RADICALLY, A YOUNG WHITE GUY WITH A BANJO! (although he did mostly play guitar last night)...

and also that, yes, his dad is KEVIN WELCH, who is possibly my quintessential old white guy with a guitar. Now, Dustin is very much his own person and all but if you think I'm gonna pass up a chance to look at Kevin Welch you must be new 'round here...

And for the Welch family trifecta a little Savannah Welch with The Trishas

btw-it was Hendrick's martini's last night which may be why I was not best pleased to be awoken at 5 this morning!

Okay. Boy come home from camp on Wednesday and shortly thereafter we are off to the wilds of Western Maine. Tuesday night is Alejandro Escovedo and then the music and booze will ease off a bit.

ETA OMG I HAD NOT HEARD THE TRISHAS COVER THIS BUT IT IS GREAT! Kevin Welch wrote Too Young to Die Old when Savannah was a baby and Dustin closed with it last night. MAN I would LOVE to hear the three of them sing it together! IF YOU ONLY LISTEN TO ONE OF THESE CHOOSE THIS ONE!
