Oh, CANADA, CANADIANS! How could I ever have doubted you!
Yesterday, while on hold with various Canadian Citizenship and Immigration call center employees I used my time on hold to write the most diplomatic response imaginable to the brush off I got from the Consul-General and sent it off about 4pm EST expecting (at best) a response on Monday afternoon or Tuesday, unless they flagged my email for the trash or something.
Instead I got this response this morning. WHICH MEANS THAT THIS WONDERFUL PERSON, WHO ACTUALLY SIGNED HIS NAME, WAS NOT ONLY WORKING ON SATURDAY HE SENT THIS OFF BEFORE 9am EST!!!
Even soulless bureaucracy cannot dim the inherent NICENESS of Canadians! TRUFAX!

While we are unclear how your case became so complicated we are preparing a document for you to sign to give up your status. When you have signed it, you should keep a copy just in case while mailing the original back to us. We will then have to send this document off to Ottawa so that the records concerning you can be updated.
