"Ain't nothing in this world like homegrown tomatoes"*

Every now and then I manage to remember that I saved or bookmarked or printed something wonderful and I actually go back and look at it. Part of tonight's dinner came from this year+ old article by Mark Bittman.

This was seriously amazing! And there are dozens of other great ideas in there.

15. Cut cherry or grape tomatoes in half; toss with soy sauce, a bit of dark sesame oil and basil or cilantro. I love this - the tomato juice-soy thing is incredible.

There was also a small salad of cucumbers and shallots in miso vinaigrette, grilled sweet chili tofu w/ chinese broccoli over some udon, and ricepaper rolls of carrot, daikon, and thai basil...but I wanted to swim in the tomatoes!

And yes, I sent Dave pics! He's BACK at Luke. tonight, on an expense account even, the bastard ;)

*Alas this is the end of the sweet millions and the yellow pears. All the rain has made the not yet ripe ones go splody and knocked the not yet set blooms off. By the time the plants recover it'll be too hot for them to set fruit. But what a way to enjoy the last hurrah!
