rambling update

Came home to a VERY cold (52) degree house and a furnace that kept trying to fire but wouldn't. EEEhhh. Turns out we really need a new circuit board but the guy who came out from Strand cut down a wire and reconnected everything and gave me a sheepish look and said his fix may work for a couple of hours or a couple of years (but we really should get a price on that new circuit board). Thank you Armando the super HVAC repair guy!

Now we just have to decide if it's time to replace the whole eighteen year old unit for a more efficient one, just spring for the circuit board (about $500 it seems), or wait and see how long the fix works. If our past SOP is anything to go by we'll be following that last one.

By the time we got back from The Boy's band concert the house was lovely and warm again! Yay! Well, for as warm as I can stand it values of warm. It's set at 66 but that's a marital compromise. I'm more of a 63 "put a sweater on!" kind and Dave would run it on 70 if I let him. Then again he routinely does 13-15 training runs at 5pm in 100+ heat and like hot yoga so I think he fried his brain years ago.

Concert was fun - the pieces finally make sense when you hear more than just the first Alto Sax line!

Funniest line of the evening: The percussion ensemble has been struck by illness!

Eh, maybe it was the dramatic delivery. Or the fact that yes, 5 or the 11 percussionists are out with H1N1. Not that that is funny- *gives up*- trust me, it was amusing at the time. And the new Assistant Band Director is named Skipper. Really. She has mad rhythm.

Eeep! Hanukkah starts tomorrow night! Double Eeep! Lots of people (our Chavura) are coming to my house on Sunday night to eat latkes and...other stuff. I really should do something about that.
