My mom is cool.
Today I was reading about how trans people are often denied treatment or suffer abuse at the hands of health care professionals, and it made me realize how proud I am of my mother. She is a nurse (as well as a child rearing adviser, therapist of sorts, and yoga teacher...), and trans people are lucky she is out there. I know for a fact that she had a gender nonconforming child at her hospital who she treated with respect, meanwhile the other nurses made fun of the child and tried to make him play with gender "appropriate" toys.
So, in short, I love my mom (today).
