Listen To This! Ruslana: Amazonka

I'm a huge Eurovision whore, I absolutely adore everything associated with that song contest because it's a festival of quality but the best thing I've found from it has to be Ruslana. She's a fabulous beyond description pop singer from the Ukraine. Her latest album has already been released in her native Ukraine and the English release is out in Canada. Since I have a considerable lack of funds I'm unwilling to pay for both albums and have obtained the Ukraine release of the album titled Amazonka HERE.

The album is based around the storyline from an award winning science fiction novel which is such nerdy coolness I can't even describe how much I love her for doing that. I'm in the process of obtaining the Canadian release of the album which features a kick ass song with Missy Elliot called The Girl That Rules. I have to listen to both albums completely before I can compare and contrast but overall I usually tend to prefer artists when they sing in their native language. So I'll probably end up preferring Amazonka to Wild Energy, the album's English release, even with Missy having a sweet cameo on it.

Anyway! Listen to the album and adore Ruslana as much as I do. At this point I'd probably have to say she's my favorite Eurovision contestant of all time and the reason I've ended up enjoying a huge amount of music from the Ukraine.

Before I go, just for the fun of it, here's the music video for the song Moon of Dreams. Naturally, I prefer the Ukrainian version of the song to this English rendition. If the images are a bit odd to you then do recall the songs being somewhat based around the science fiction novel Wild Energy, Lana and the music videos reflect that. Not that there's much to complain about in terms of her music videos since Ruslana does bring the pretty hardcore.
