thanks for wasting my time lol. Anyways, the other link doesnt work, so yeah, sorry, maybe you ask catie... :( But yeah, it sounds like actually the way a lot of dumb religions debate for example.
Me - The gift of the Holy Ghost was an ordinance performed by the apostles of old, requiring power and authority from god as seen in Acts:9. Where is your Authority to perform ordinances from god.
Member of a church that only meets on Sat - Gifts of the holy ghost is not an ordinace, its the gift of toungs, interpretation of tounges, etc. Therefore we dont need authority.
Me- slams head on desk

Note the use of "gift" and "gifts"

I think there are two problems here, that are very difficult to pin point and learn how to see and overcome. the first is definitions. A lot of times you are arguing with someone and you dont have agreed definitions. Ex: Love means like, erotic, tenderness, emotion, charity, etc. Easy to see how an argument involving love can just get confused by two people passing by each other, like two ships in the dark. They each think they won the argument, the problem is, they didnt even contact and talk about the same thing.

And the second is a logical falacy. It is very easy to universalize a statement more, apply it to a non related situation, that is obviously rediculous, and then use that to attack. For example.
A: Dietary technologies are bad and decresing our quality of life.
B: No technologies are good and help the world live better. You say you dont like technology, so you are saying that you dont like stuff like medication and transportation. Therefore your argument is dumb, cause you cant be afraid of technology.

Oks so not the best example, but you get the point. Its really easy to do, and not many people realize that it is happening, and then may become forced to defend a more universal topic that they are not really talking about. Like lets say genetic dietary engenering tech. is bad. Oks but they shouldnt have to defend ALL dietary technology. Sure the trackter is a good invention and helps us make more food faster, cheeper, and better.... but thats not what we are talking about. I dunno, sorry I couldnt get something more on topic, but yeah, it was nice to think a little.
