Alaska is absolutely beautiful... but I would NEVER be able to live there. No sun, even when it's light almost 20 hours of the day. It's amazing how beautiful nature can be because of the simple fact that it's different nature. As in, nature I don't get to look at every day at home.
Many highlights:
-seeing the Hubbard glacier and watching huge chunks of it fall into the water and make large waves.
-Peaceful downtime reading with the boyfriend.
-on board art auctions (one of my favorite parts), these happenings resulted in my (my father) coming home with not one, but two PETER MAX embellished works, one from his 9/11 suite and one of the mona lisa, well, these among other pieces, but these two were definitely my fave (and will be on display in my bedroom shortly) :)
-getting a massage and facial on different days making the pampering last and last.
-canoing on a lake that, when ceasing to row, was complete and utter silence. the echoes were amazing, and so was the smoked salmon.
-the food, one word: AMAZING. It was all in portions so that you could eat an appetizer, entree and dessert without stuffing yourself (well, sometimes). Lucinda, on one occasion, ordered two appetizers, three entrees, and a dessert, and she still has abs of steel.
-the misty fjords, I love waterfalls, in my opinion, one of God's finest natural delights.
-dancing on a bar with my mother and Lucinda (completely sober in case the question crosses your mind) and somehow being the wholesome one in the bunch.
-animals made of towels courtesy of the awesome guy who turned down our beds every night.
-spending time with scott and family, the people in my life are truly amazing.
pretty much the whole thing was amazing, except for a 3 hour train ride that, although beautiful, caused me to nap through the second half, and panning for gold in the rain, although I did manage to get EJ some authentic Alaskan dirt out of the deal.
