I have no officially paid my debt to society in the form of jury duty.
It was actually not bad, I enjoyed my morning alone time and then the first trial that came up I got sent to. I was also the first group of jurors questioned so that made it not so boring. The case was, in a nutshell, a guy who "allegedly" had a gun and stole a car. I'm so sneaky, the judge asked if any of us had ever been involved in (victim of, known someone, etc) a crime similar to this, so I said my brother has been in and out of jail for things like this and that I'd been to his trial before and police have searched our house, etc, etc. Then the defense started asking questions and basically said his defense was that since the defendant was intoxicated at the time that he isn't guilty because a crime constitutes a guilty thought and a guilty action and if he was intoxicated than the thought wasn't there. So he asked if anyone had a problem considering this and I said that I don't believe that intoxication is an excuse for innocence... I don't think he liked that, so when they started excusing people I was lucky juror number 8! YAHOO! Kelly came and ate lunch with me, so that made my hour and a half lunch break not so bad, we had Ruby's, yum.
Now that I've conquered jury duty, all I need to do is conquer the gynecologist.
