So, the thing I keep wondering is this.
Casual searching gives me a figure of 2.65 million employees of the Executive Branch of the government, including the post office. That appears to be language that means "people who work for the federal government who are not employees of Congress or the Supreme Court".
According to
other casual searching, the DoD employs over 3 million. (Worldwide, presumably.)
And the argument goes that if we trimmed the bloated staff of The Government, we would save lots of money, balance the budget, etc.
OK. But then - where are all those trimmed people going to work once their jobs are eliminated?
