With the recent news from Chile, I was clicking on links about earthquakes and came upon this picture. It's of the magnitude-7.9 earthquake that struck just off the west coast of Peru on May 31, 1970. Just about everything was destroyed except for this statue of Christ.
It reminded me of the statue of Jesus in the back courtyard of St. Louis Cathedral in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina hit. The oak and maple trees in the courtyard were ripped from their roots and fell around the statue. While the statue's thumb was broken, the rest of the statue was intact.
Heres my pic of that Christ Statue. You can barely see it but its right in the middle. I tried to highlight it to make it stand out a bit.
