This heat is killing me. Draining me dry. I actually yelled "Yay!" the moment I heard thunder this afternoon. And yes, I was smack middle of downtown Turku at the time... But we didn't get a proper thunderstorm, just a few drops of water. The heat and humidity is still way too much for me. I got up at 5 am and it was +18 degrees then. Humidity was 100%. When did Turku turn into this greenhouse/rainforest?
Anyhow, I'm leaving for bf's summer cottage tomorrow after work and I'll be back sometime on Monday. Maybe. Yeah, I'll be totally irresponsible and hedonistic and have a summer holiday this year. Three whole days, actually.
Which brings me to Tuesday. We're planning this mini picnic in Ruissalo, weather permitting. So, if the weather seems okay enough and you'd like to enjoy the beauty of Ruissalo, send me a text message or call me or something.
I'm actually really looking forward to leaving the town and buzzle and work behind me. I've been having nightmares about work for the past week. And yeah, working six days a week in this heat is more than my muscles can take. Besides, I've never cared much for people. I rather like the girls I work with, but honestly I do prefer near solitude. Besides, staying somewhere with no electricity, running water etc feels good. And there's a chance of sleeping later than 6 am.
To make this post a bit less whiny and stupid: some things I like about summer include watermelons (it's downright embarrassing how much watermelon I can eat in a single day), strawberries, the light (currently the sun is up around 17 hours a day), warm nights, flowers and berries and fruit, flimsy dresses and sandals, bare feet on warm rocks, watching ladybugs, shade and cold water, dogs playing in the sea, sorbets and half melted salty liquorice.
Yeah, time to go pack my stuff and get ready for bed. See you next week.
