Jared’s curled up in the corner of Jensen’s couch, staring at the multicolor, lit tree. He woke up today in his room, and stumbled out into the kitchen only to notice the solid colored lights glowing from the living room. When he went to investigate he registered all the presents under the tree, and curled his body into the small space of the corner of the couch and just openly stared at them.

He didn’t know whose presents they belonged to, only vaguely remembering Jensen told him earlier that the team was coming for Christmas. He didn’t want to go see whose name were on the colorful gifts, because he knew that Jensen still hadn’t forgiven him about the Jude thing. He couldn’t really blame Jensen though, after all, Jensen only let him back in his home two months ago. So instead he just stared at the colors under the tree, imagining that at least one of them were his from Jensen.

“Hey,” a soft voice called from the entry way.

Jared turned his head, and smiled when he saw Jensen standing almost in the room, his shoulder leaning on the door frame and wearing a candy cane striped apron. “When did you do that?” he asked nodding his head slightly towards the tree.

“Last night after you went to bed,” Jensen answered before Jared turned his head back to the tree to continue looking at the twinkling lights and Christmas ornaments that adorned the green and tinseled tree. “You know,” Jensen said, waiting for Jared to turn his attention back to him, “There’re still lights and things to put up outside.”

Jared began untangling his legs, “Tell me where,” he replied, thrilled that there was still Christmas things to put up.

“You seem ecstatic,” Jensen commented as he watched Jared grab his boots to put on.

“I love Christmas,” Jared told him with a smile.

“Well,” Jensen continued to laugh, “You might want to put on some actually clothes.”

Jared looked down to saw he was still wearing the clothes he slept in. “That might be a good idea,” he commented with a blush remembering the snow that fell the day before.

Jared was up on a ladder, stringing a strain of blue lights when a car pulled into the driveway. Turning his body slightly, he watched as Eliza exited the car. “You going to help Jensen cook?” he called towards her.

“Fuck, no,” she replied shaking her head, “I almost burned down his kitchen a couple years ago. I’m not allowed in his kitchen except to get something to drink.” Jared laughed loudly, and her smile slipped into a look of concern as Jared grasped the metal rung to keep from falling. “Are you okay?” she asked, walking closer to the ladder.

“I’m fine,” Jared said, out of breath from the fear of falling he had just experienced.

“Maybe you should come down and do something else,” she cautioned, as her hands reached and held onto the ladder.

“No,” Jared replied, looking down the ladder and smiling, “I’m fine. I’m sure Jensen wants you for something or you wouldn’t be here this early.”

With a nod and a look of apprehension, she let go of the ladder and walked inside the warm house.

“Jen,” she called as the door shut behind her and she began pulling off her gloves and coat.

“Kitchen,” he replied back, leading her with his voice. Eliza stared at Jensen as he balanced different pies, and she quickly moved to refrigerator, opening the door so he could slide the pies in. “Thanks,” he said smiling before pulling her into a hug.

“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” she said awkwardly patting him on the back, “Enough with the mushy shit, you said you needed my help?”

“In the bedroom,” he shooed her, remembering why he had her come over.

“Anything you want done specifically?” she questioned through a laugh as he pushed her out of the kitchen.

“Whatever,” he said, finally getting her out of the kitchen, and turning to go back to the counter to finish the Christmas dinner.

Jared had just finished plugging all the lights and various air blown decorations up, when three vehicles pulled up and parked on the curb. He watched with a smile as Ellen and Went climbed out of the silver Solstice, Chris jumped from the dark blue Tahoe, and Steve stepped out from the green Escalade.

Jared stared at his friend, he knew the other three was coming but had no clue that Steve was. Walking up to his friend, he pulled him into a tight hug, “I didn’t know you were coming,” he said in Steve’s ear, not letting go of him, until Steve forced him away.

“Jensen invited me,” Steve informed him, “Now can we go inside before my balls turn blue and fall off?” With a laugh, Jared pushed them all towards the door.

Everyone was in the living room. Went, and Ellen sitting on the couch with Steve, Eliza and Chris taking up the two overstuffed chairs, and Jensen at the tree handing out presents. Jared sit down in front of the couch, Steve’s legs on the left of him, as he smiled and watched his friends open presents that Jensen had wrapped the night before, and the ones he had placed under the tree before going outside to put lights up.

Jared watched as Jensen patiently removed the tape of the package Jared had put under the tree for him, before he carefully removed the paper, opened the box and broke out in a fit of laughter. Everyone turned to see the collection of Marvel merchandise that Jared had spent the last month surfing the internet for. Every item had something to do with Gambit, rather it was an action figure or a comic book that Gambit had been in.

Jared was smiling along with everyone, until he noticed there wasn’t anymore gifts under the tree, and that he didn’t have one from Jensen. He felt his heart break as he looked at the five brightly colored presents, just to realize that everyone got him a gift except the one person he wanted one from. While everyone was opening their presents, Jared left the room unnoticed. Standing at the front door he slipped on his shoes and walked out. He’d just take a walk, and hopefully when he got back, he wouldn’t feel as bad, and wouldn’t ruin anyone’s Christmas.

Jared was gone for forty-five minutes, his horrible mood left him as he walked the neighborhood and looked at all the Christmas lights. He had thought about it while he walked, and realized that if he was anyone else, and if he thought someone betrayed him, he wouldn’t get them anything either. The realization might not take away the pain, but at least he understood, so slowly he turned around and made his way back to the Jensen’s house.

Jared stomped his feet to get rid of the snow, before he stepped into the warm house and began to take off his boots. As he pulled the second off, he looked to see Jensen glaring at him. “Goddammit Jared,” Jensen seethed.

“What?” Jared asked confused, “I stomped my feet off before I came in,” he glanced down at his boots to make sure the snow was in fact gone.

“Don’t fucking leave like that again,” Jensen told him, his arms still crossed over his chest.

“I was…” he started before he just shook his head and moved around Jensen. He walked down the hallway and stopped at his door when a hand grabbed his arm and swung him around. “Jensen,” Jared softly said his eyes trained on the floor while he looked at his socks, “I don’t want to fight. Just let me go lay down.” Before Jared could turn to go into his room, Jensen was laying his head against Jared’s chest.

“I thought we were over this,” he said wearily, “But you won’t talk to me.”

Not knowing what else to do, Jared wrapped his arms around Jared, “I don’t know what you want me to say,” he admitted from where his head rest on Jensen’s.

“I want you to tell me why you left. I thought you were having a good time and the next time I looked up you were gone and no one knew where you went,” Jensen whispered against Jared’s chest.

“I was being selfish,” Jared softly told him, “It hurt that you didn’t get me anything, and I didn’t want to ruin anyone’s Christmas so I went for a walk.”

With a laugh, Jensen pulled away from Jared, “I didn’t get you anything?” he continued to laugh, “Come on,” Jensen commanded, pulling Jared towards Jensen’s bedroom.

As Jensen opened his door, Jared first took in all the new bedding, “Why did you change your covers and pillows?” Jared asked, staring at the bed that used to have the most expensive and softest materials draped over it that now was covered with a dark blue cotton comforter and dark blue cotton pillow cases. Jared turned to look at Jensen and only noticed the huge grin before a rustling made him look away and into the corner of the room where another midnight blue item was placed with a soft, fluffy, golden caramel puppy was curled in the middle. “A puppy?” Jared asked, moving closer to the corner and dropping to his knees to pet it.

“Merry Christmas Casper,” Jensen whispered as he walked up to him.

“But you don’t like dogs,” Jared said reaching out his hand and running his fingers through the soft fur, only then noticing the red bow around the puppy’s neck.

“No, I don’t like the shedding,” Jensen clarified.

Gently, Jared curled his hands around the sleeping puppy and picked it up. Cradling it to his chest, he stood and when his eyes saw the bed, he remembered Jensen changed it. “But why’d you change your bed?”

“I, um, thought you could move back into my room,” Jensen said blushing. With a laugh, Jared moved the puppy slightly so he could hold onto the puppy with the other hand, pulled Jensen closer to kiss him. “So what are you going to name him?” Jensen asked Jared, with his eyes still closed, when Jared pulled back.

“Noel,” Jared told him, as he looked down at the puppy with a smile.
