31 Days of August: 28

Diana has been acting very strangely today. Perhaps it was the full moon, or maybe because there was a lunar eclipse this morning that I knew nothing about until someone at work asked me if I had seen it. Or just maybe she just had all of this bottled up energy and it needed to be released. She was testing the limits of her leash this morning (which did prove to be a little painful - the pain in my foot did not go away). I would reel her back in close to me but a minute or so later she was at it again. When it was time for breakfast, she poked at it for a moment but did not eat anything. I had to take her food dish out of reach of the cats and then had to leave her in her chair when I left for work.

fallingblossom had a doctor's appointment today so she worked from home, but reported that Diana stayed quiet for most of the day. Of course, it was a different story when I got home - she was bouncing all over. The good news is that she ate the food from this morning which contained her medication, but she was still a bit hyped up. While we ate our dinner, she kept looking at us in the hope that we would drop something on the floor (by accident or on purpose, made no difference to her). After, she wanted me to play as she kept bringing her ring toy (a set of two interlinked rubber circles) over for me to play tug-of-war. She often gets this vicious growl in her throat as she pulls, but it is also quite comical and I can't help but laugh when she does it. The dog can also get so full of energy that she has to run around the room in what we call a "puppy-pree," an obstacle course that varies, depending on what might be in her way at the time, in order to get rid of it. We do encourage this as it tends to tire her out.

The medication now seems to have calmed her down quite a bit since the last burst a little over an hour ago. Doggy downers, good. Better living through chemistry... for dogs!

I haven't taken any new photos since last week (and that was of my office building - and has since been added to our company's real estate website. I wasn't completely happy with it (the wide angle lens caused a bit of distortion), but the guys that asked me thought it was good enough to post. Maybe I'll just go ahead and take some more to satisfy my curiosity and hope for a better shot.
