So, week 11. In one week and the day after tomorrow, I'll be seeing the doctor again to determine if healing has been completed and I can start putting my leg on the ground in such a way that it actually bears my weight. I am so ready for life to start again, while I have good days and they do outweigh the bad days, the truth is bad days are part of life. Maybe once things sort of start going back to normal and I don't feel so much a "prisoner" at home and totally dependent on people to do things for me beyond small personal tasks I can do (like making my lunch and getting snacks, etc. -- although dad usually makes breakfast and dinner for me because I can microwave lunch, but can't really do much around the stove yet), I can breathe easier.

For some reason, feeling like I'm a "prisoner" has made me very keen on writing, especially certain scenes in "To Dream A Little Longer". I still think it's terribly amusing that they watched Jaws in that part of the story and Brody made some odd comment about Bridger maybe taking up acting to support himself through Naval School. I find such joy in tiny shout-outs like that.

If anyone relates to contemporary Earth culture though as if it's every day mundane things, it's John Crichton from Farscape. I adored that show too because I thought the Moya as a living starship was just about the most bitchin' thing around (and then we got Talyn ... oh what could have been!) But also the creator of Farscape created seaQuest (and then went on to create Definace which is probably why I watch that) Between seaQuest and Farscape, my days have been rather entertaining.

And speaking of which, I heard from a friend that C4 is coming (Central Coast Comic Con) at the end of the month. It's only about 25 minutes away, give or take, and when I checked out the media guest list, Gigi Edgley is on it. She was Chiana in Farscape! I don't really care about the rest of the guests (except for maybe Doug Jones) but I wanna go! I might just barely be weight bearing, and not up to staying on my feet all day, so I'm thinking of channeling my inner Star Wars nerd and dress my wheelchair up as a Star Wars vehicle.

Speaking of dress up, I went totally crazy last night and ended up geek-shopping in some sort of nerd-orgy by buying some seaQuest related loot off eBay that i didn't know you could still get after all this time. I think of it as being on a sugar-rush of some kind (only this is a show-rush ... a 20 year old show-rush) and is some reward of a sorts for managing to put up with 3 months of not being able to walk around on my own two feet. So I spent a little money, eh. Also, I knew there were commander patches for costumes (shoulder and collar) but they were red which is fleet op vs the light blue of fleet command (and I did subsequently find commander patches in light blue) but then while looking up rank patches on Google, I stumbled across captain's patches. So I bought them. With Halloween on a Saturday this year, and my nephew no doubt coming down to trick-or-treat (plus any parties I might be going to), I want an awesome Halloween costume for such events. And, being on the obsessed state that I am in ... well, DUH!

While it makes me feel guilty to treat him like a valet when he's got work of his own to do, I just made my dad go get a box from my study so I could dig my season 2 sourcebook (which was a little gem I picked up a few years ago) just to cross reference some things I've been working in regards to WaveDancer. I love that little sourcebook. It's chock-a-block full of information. Also, I found writing on lined notebook paper that is necessary to some plot lines, so it was good that they were all together.

But oh the sourcebook. Such a delight to look at again. It's got some funny stuff that were concepts. Like Ford ... darling upstanding by-the-book (who-I-still-think-was-stupid-for-falling-for-the-boat-whore-in-season-3) getting hit with a paternity suit (bwahahaha, Miguel maybe since according to WaveDancer's "canon", his kid's best friends with young mister Kelher-Brody, but Ford?) It's also sad that they still planned to keep Katie Hitchcock (who would have been a BILLION times better than the boatwhore), Ben Krieg and Bill Shan from season 1. On the other hand, I adore the description they wrote for Brody, it's exactly how Ed Kerr played him, and how I strive to respect that. Obsessed, lil ole meeeeee? (Well, maybe)

I did have a seaQuest-related dream last night, with some Star Wars tie in, talking about the Death Star, which I blame on A) watching seaQuest episodes before bedtime while writing and B) also looking at Star Wars vehicles. I tend to dream in third person, which makes me feel like a horrible voyeur at times.

Well, geeking out now, I guess. One foot in front of the other (in the metaphorical if not actual literal sense at this point) until life gets back to normal.
