This time, you’ve gotten the lead role in the production [Bartender], what impression do you have after reading the original [Bartender]?
- After hearing that I’ll be getting the role, I went to read it. The bar’s image, how they do things, the meaning, was different from what I’ve thought it would be. I thought it would be more and more of an adult and dandy place, but this production had a healing space. The image I had and the impression I got was different.
You seem to have done Bartender’s training.
- It started around the time National (kokuritsu’s concert) ended ne. it started around September. I practised for 1.5 to 2 hours each time, in the afternoons before a bar opened, and practised about once a week. There are times where my schedule is packed and I can’t do it but, I have been doing it at that pace since practise started.
- How does it feel to do it for real?
- It was tough, as expected. It’s not about just paying attention to the taste, you must also pay attention to each and every part from which you are you looked at. Right now, I’m pretty much got it. Soon when I start filming, soon…ne.(laugh). It has been pretty strict. Even shaking the shaker properly requires its own special method.
It’s not just about repeating the shaking, it is also necessary to take note of the mixing and the coldness of it, within a short amount of time. After it has the basic structure, you follow your feelings and continue doing it. Pouring it into a glass is hard too. I used a measure when I was practising but at first my hands were shaking and I couldn’t do it well.
I think I’ve sort of gotten the hang of it now? Even the cracking of ice too, it’s pretty hard. Though I’ve never done something like poke my hand with the ice pick, but it was pretty tough having to hold something cold for a long time. (laugh) I’ve never really let other people taste it yet but, when I tried drinking it, going “Ah this isn’t it, this isn’t it either.” is fun.
Did your repertoire increase?
- I wouldn’t really call it repertoire but, regardless of the flavour, I’ll probably be able to make it to a certain extent if I was given the recipe. The type that I have to shake with the shaker is a cocktail called a sidecar, if it’s the type I don’t need to shake and have to mix up, it’s called a martini. I also made a whiskey base called Old Parr. The type of alcohol you put in it different, but to a certain extent, the method of preparing the drinks is the same. Therefore if I know the recipe, I think I may be able to make it. (laughs)
Is that any cocktail that you’re good at?
- I’m good at all of them yo (laugh) ( SO CUTE ASFSAGSD)
Then, how about one that you’re interested. (is the interviewer going T.T?) XD
- Gin Fizz. It’s actually really hard. There are two ways to make it, either by shaking, or by stirring with a bar spoon. It’s hard to make, but I like it.
If you were to make a cocktail to give your fans, what kind will you make?
- It would be something sweet ne. Sweet(for some reason, he’s emphasizing on the wee~ part)(which sounds wrong to me whether if its in jap or english HAHA). It would be good if the colour looks nice. The pastel type. And, put salt at the side of the glass. The taste will be swe~et. Isn’t it good for the cocktail to be call “swe~et”?
- Since there are still a lot of duet readers that are still underage, let’s go with non-alcholic ones.(laughs) Actually, if you want to try drinking cocktails at a bar, it’d be better to go after you have more knowledge on cocktails. They are unexpectedly high in alcohol content, and there are very strong ones too. It’ll be scary to suddenly realise that you got drunk, so it’s better to make your order after asking the bartender about the drinks.
And now, the drama Bartender’s specific points to catch!
Every week, problems are solved with just one glass of alcohol… since the stories are concluded every week, it is something easy to watch, so why don’t you watch it for a relaxing Friday night? (laughs). Because It has been a year and 3 months since [My girl], I want to have fun with it. If you can, by all means, please watch it!
