Man, Rishikesh was super.
I dont have pictures right now, but I'll post them later sometime..
The cold, green water, the wide river, the hills that surrounded us, white sand, our tents, the stars at night!!!, their reflection in the river, bonfires, rafting over rapids, body surfing, this is where you jump into the rapid with your lifejacket and helmet on and go through the rapid that way...
Shit! that was exhilarating + scary for the first couple of seconds, when you dont know enough to hold your breath when the water crashes down on you (Yea, I swallowed quite a bit of water then),..
(There were two rapids, called Tee Off and Initiation where It was safe to body surf at this time of year, and both had long streches of river btween the next rapid.)
..then you get to just float around on your back in the moving river.
That was my favorite part.
Lying on your back in the river with your lifejacket on, so you just float there. The water is so cold. So fresh. So clean. You look up, and see a blue blue sky, and out of the corner of you eye, you try to look at the blinding sun. The current carries you along so slowly and lesiurely, you see beautiful tall rocks, and rock caves, and streches of white sand, all surrounded by tree covered hills, and the only thing you hear is the water rushing around your ears and body, making you so light, as you float along.. mmmmmmmmmm...
Gorgeous.
I felt like a waterbaby..I love swimming, I loved the water, brr.. it was amazingly cold, but after a while it feels soo good.
The rafting was amazing. My body ached all over after, from paddling so hard. And I got tanned, but I feel good about all of this, I feel GOOD.
There are a lot of rafts on the river this time of year, from different camps, so many people, if you live in Delhi, please, please go for at least one weekend!! Contact Snow Leopard, they set up camps and have the best staff, instructors and cooks!
Oh, and the instructors.. *sigh* So damn cool! And they're all pro, they've spent all of their lives on rivers all over the world.. Isnt that an awsome?
..
My birthday was a super day too..and the day after that, heh, I celebrated for two days straight.. Shopped like crazy too.. wish I could post pics.. :(
I do feel different now, very different from the girl who was so so lost, for the past 3 years.
I love life, and I love feeling so much, everything, even when my emotions overcome me.
But I dont know why everything beautiful makes me feel sad and happy at the same time.
..
Do you know that amazing air and trees you get only in the hills? God, I didnt realize how much I had missed it.
