More than ever lately, I've been hearing about how native oregonians don't use umbrellas... and how once someone moves here, they're not an oregonian until they cease their usage of umbrellas

I spent so many years when I didn't drive walking everywhere in the rain without even proper clothing, let alone an umbrella. It sucks being soaked all the time.

'twas one of two ways to force myself to take me time, of which I had 10 minutes of yesterday.

I only use an umbrella if I'm wearing nice clothes...

I use it if I feel like walking somewhere in the rain, or know I'll be out in it for awhile. I suppose the people making these comments are referring more to folks who use umbrellas to get from car to door or a block or two. The days of 40-50 block walks in the rain... I miss them but I don't.

Aside from ending up sick occasionally from doing that all the time, I really didn't mind it much.
