Outrageous Items in the news

Item # 1

A one year old boy slipped and fell into a family's swimming pool. He suffered brain damage. he can't walk, talk or swallow. he lives in a nursing home where he eats and breathes through tubes. Tragic.
The officer responding to the call, Sgt. Andrea Eichhorn, slipped in a puddle that she claims the family left and broke her knee, causing her to miss two months of work. She claims to have chronic problems and may develop arthritis in her knee. Mind you, she is still fully capable of walking talking, eating and breathing.
This is what her lawyer, David Heil, said: "It's a situation where the Cosmillos have caused these problems, brought them on themselves, then tried to play the victim"
The parents were, I think, a little bit more concerned about their child than cleaning up a puddle of water they left behind because the boy just fell into a pool. He is going to be wet!
It's sad that a 12 year police veteran would file this sort of lawsuit. Even worse that there is a lawyer who would either take this case or (more likely) encourage this sort of suit. It's a disgrace!
Almost as bad as item #2.

Item # 2:

in 1993, a gang of teenagers raped, beat and killed two girls in Texas. Now, one of them, an illegal immigrant from Mexico, is trying to halt his execution because at the time, he was not informed that, as a Mexican national, he had the right to seek help from the Mexican Consulate. The case will be heard by the Supreme Court in the spring.
It's outrageous in too many ways. Why is this guy still alive after 14 years? Why should he have any rights under Mexican, U.S. or international law? He didn't want to be in Mexico obviously, he came here illegally (and was part of a brutal gang, no less!) and now, Bush, former governor of Texas, the state that executed 152 people during his tenure as governor, is supporting the International Kangaroo Court's findings that this killer's rights, along with those of 50 other convicted Mexican nationals, were violated because they were not informed of the right to seek help from their consulate.
Look, if you get a traffic ticket or lose your passport or jaywalk while you're visiting our fine nation, that's fine, go to your consulate and they can maybe convince a judge that, as a tourist or visitor, you were not 100% clear on US law. I get that. That's what they are here for, to help foreigners get through the red tape involved in clearing up minor citations or replacing lost documents. But to help a ruthless killer escape the needle?
A footnote to this outrage... one of the killers, who smiled at news cameras when he was arrested, was executed last year. Good riddance. Two others had their sentence commuted to life (can't find out if parole was a possibility. I hope not) because they were 17 when they committed the crime and the Supreme Court seemed to think that once you are convicted of a crime, your age is somehow frozen and therefore we can't go around executing so-called minors. A fourth does not have an execution date yet.
Fourteen years. Bush supporting killers. The US pimping her sovereignty in International Court.
Those anti-Bush stickers are beginning to make sense. WTF is right!
