So, today was my first ever Thanksgiving to host. We had both of our families come over to celebrate. It was so easy! I know what you're thinking...how in the world was it easy?? Well, here's how:
I took vacation for the whole week so that I had plenty of time to prepare. I went to the grocery store on Monday to avoid the Thanksgiving rush. I went up to pick my sister up on Tuesday and we left for my house after her youth worship called "The Edge". It was actually really cool. I even got to watch her play guitar! Yesterday, we got up and took the turkey to be fried and we baked the pies and I got the sweet potato casserole ready. So, with all of that preparation, along with the fact that we did a pot-luck type Thanksgiving, I didn't have much to do but warm everything up today. It was glorious! Here was our menu:
Fried turkey (provided by us with the help of the Knights of Columbus)
Sweet potato casserole (made by me)
Dressing, dilly pull-apart bread, & giblet gravy (compliments of my wonderful mother-in-law)
Cheese potatoes, cranberry salad, & broccoli-rice casserole (thanks to my mom & granny)
Green bean casserole (made by my sister-in-law who, by the way, doesn't even really eat casserole...)
Pumpkin pie (made by my sister)
and...Cherry and apple pies (made by me)
It was all sooooooooooooooo good, and I am still sooooooooooooo full! We also had dinner at the C*'s house last night. We had so much fun! J's girlfriend and her mom were there, and they got to experience the joy that is dinner at the C*'s.
I love the holidays. It really is great to get together with friends and family. Hope everyone's Thanksgiving was as great as ours was!
