Ah, I love weekends. Particularly stressful ones. Sarcasm? Me??
Anyways, this time it was the neighbors in building A (I live in building B) who decided to have a rather loud domestic scene (complete with swearing and insults) outside in the parking lot around 8-ish tonight. She kept screaming at him, and got into his car carrying on, and beat up on the interior of the car. He was less than amused and called the cops. When they arrived and assessed the situation, they ordered the guy to leave and the woman to go back in her apartment and cool off. Then the cops left. The woman was still screaming at the top of her lungs, making me long for the pair of earplugs I was promised this past week.
In any rate, the woman suddenly dove back into his car and took off--near missing our car--and the guy took off in her car about five minutes or so later. Twenty minutes after this, she returned--with a flat tire--him following a close second. He tried to quietly ask her to get out of the car and she became hysterical again. This was around 9-something. Being fed up with this, my mom called the cops and proceeded to crack them up by saying "And I just want her to shut up!" So the cops came out a second time. After the third police car we were slightly more interested in the proceedings (yes, life is rarely dull these days).
Yeah, there we were watching round 2 of Cops, except it was live in our parking lot. Yay. This time they ordered her to go to bed and go to sleep. At that moment. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. She started bitching (again) and carrying on (still), but finally went to bed, him telling her to shut up the whole way. Then he got into it with the police about not wanting her to go to jail when she came back out--obviously not going to bed despite her shouting to the contrary. I do believe that no one in buildings A&B were ignorant now of the proceedings.
After another round of cops vs. tenants, the cops called their sergeant (hence the fourth car). The sarge pulled up and started to try to open negotiations with the couple, only to have talks break down when the man discovered that the woman had slashed his front right tire. By that point, the first two cop cars had left. To add to this charming scene was the woman (that's right, not in bed!) coming back out again to ask the guy where he was going.
This all escalated and had both of the remaining cops coming out of their cars to deal with the couple, who headed back to their apartment (thank God). So 15-20 minutes later, the poor cops finally left, and all was silent......for now....
I wrapped up the round by telling Mom about another call to 911 I would probly end up making if this happened again tonight:
"Hello, police? Yeah, I'd like to report a justifiable homicide...yeah, I'm the person who committed it because they wouldn't shut up."
Stay tuned; we may yet have round three.
