I have a feeling you're being sarcastic, but I don't think civil rights should ever be up for a vote. Democracy is designed to protect minority rights from the majority, which, in the case of Prop 8, did not happen. So if you're suggesting that the outcome of Prop 8 is just and fair then I would have to disagree with you.
You are right. We should have a single leader who can not be questioned. That way we could be sure the right thing happens!! We need more people like you!
I never said the President should be the person to decide. When it comes to civil rights, it has been the court that has decided on the side of minorities. Such was the case in Brown vs. Board of Education. If integration or interracial marriage had been put up for a vote, we would not see the same progressive outcomes we see today.
I respect that you support Prop 8, but don't accuse me of saying things I've never said.

If not the people who should say?
If the people say brothers and sister should not marry who should say no if not the people. You want a dictatorship.
The people who voted in Hitler thought they were doing the right thing as well.
