...to pimp my band. Ok, so I'm always pimping my band, but this is special. We just finished our live album from the Carl and Dennis Wilson (Beach Boys) tribute show we toured with this summer and it came out really pretty amazingly well....especially if you have ever been to the Marina Del Rey dive bar in which it was recorded. You would be incredibly amazed at the live recording we got out of that place. It was very well performed, recorded, mixed and mastered with only minimal touch ups. For the most part what you hear is what we did (+ reverb).
Even if you are not a Beach Boys fanatic (which is who this tour/album was really designed for as it highlights the songs of the Wilson brothers who are not Brian, none of which were ever really hits) chances are you would enjoy the album just on the quality of performance, the live but extremely listenable vibe, and the songs themselves. I had never heard any of them before this project and most of them I wouldn't have recognized as being The Beach Boys. It's not what you think of when you think of them. Plus I'm playing and singing on it, and it was hard, dammit, and I'm really proud of it. This is not the level I ever expected to be performing on. I almost feel legit. Almost.
Anyway, if anyone is interested in supporting the album, we're taking pre-orders starting today. Here's a link to the CCnow page. There are 20 tracks on the album and 7 of the songs are our originals. The price includes shipping. Don't worry, I don't deal with the orders so I won't know if you bought one or not, but just putting it out here. Christmas and all... ; )
