the cancer

Much love to sissyhiyah and altol for looking out for my virtue.  The good thing about this particular situation is I'm much more talk than action, so honestly I don't think one single solitary thing is going to come out of anything I said.  Good news, yes?

Today has been...kind of a roller coaster emotionally.  My mother called me today to tell me my father has skin cancer.  It's not the malignant kind at least, but it's not exactly good news.  I was in a dark place for a bit, and was sure to tell my manager about my mood shift because she kind of likes to call people out when they have the sad/stank look on their face.  She was incredibly compassionate about it and asked if I needed to go home, but honestly, what the hell would I do at home other than mull over something I can't change?  No; I stayed. And really, I'm still processing it, but it doesn't seem to be anything to get nuts over.  Though it had me considering my parents mortality and they are getting to the age to where things can tip out of their favor in a flash healthwise.  I don't like things I can't balance and fix, but it's a part of life I must accept.

I work a double shift tomorrow.  Not really looking forward to it.  I'm kind of in a slump at the moment...I hope the pep in my step returns when I wake tomorrow.
