Title: When Kame's cell phone didn't ring - Oneshot
Pairing: None - Fandom: KAT-TUN and NEWS
Rating: G
Summary: Valentine's night and Kame had nothing to do whatsoever, plus his cell phone refused to ring.

Today: Valentine’s day! VALENTINE! And…
How long had it been?
Kame stared blankly at his cell phone in front of him.
It lied there, not moving an inch. Motionless and intact. It kept lying, as soullessly as a mere solid cell phone, inherently what it really was.
A sudden sigh came from Kame, who was already in his pajamas and sitting in front of the TV. Still nothing fun to watch. Why did all channels have to show world news at this time of the day - the only time considered to be free in Kame’s hectic life? Couldn’t they just simply broadcast something a little bit more interesting and compelling for a mild purpose of entertainment.
Sure world news, under some angles, could be considered as ‘fun’ and ‘entertaining’ as well. But Kame had to admit he didn’t care that much about the wars or the environment. Wasn’t that the responsibility of the government and authorities? And his purpose, his sole purpose, was an entertainer, who obviously entertained people for a living. And when an entertainer wasn’t working, he had to seek entertainment as well. After all, Kame was just human.
But, even though annoyed by the inefficiency of the current broadcasting channels, Kame really had to thank them. For the fact that they didn’t show anything appalling, Kame could stop himself from sticking to the TV and paid more attention to his cell phone.
Ah - the lifeless indifferent frigid cell phone lying right on his coffee table in front of Kame. It was still not ringing. Not a single call, not a message or text. Kame was fed up with waiting, he hated that, but based on his current situation… What more could he do than waiting?
The cell phone still refused to ring! Kame glared at it…. as if glaring was going to help at all. 1 second, 2 seconds, a minute had passed. Tick tock tick tock… Kame shot another deathly glare at his darn heartless cell phone. It was still there, yet it felt like it wasn’t. It was in front of him, yet it felt like it was out of reach. Kame picked it up, carefully controlling the amount of power he put in, or he would just squash his cell in anger with one blow.
Stupid cell phone!
Calming down the desire to throw the cell against the wall, Kame gently laid it down on the table again. This is so no fun at all!
Kame stood up. His throat was parched. Even though spring had come, the peaceful weather still hadn’t come. Well, he guessed all those pollutions had some real bad effects on the enviroment and the functions of seasons. Damn! He blamed the news presenter this time.
Sighing, Kame once again claimed his cell into his palm. He couldn’t just leave his phone here. What if it rang? What if a message came? And he wasn’t there to reply? Kame couldn’t bear the thought.
Hitting ‘Power’ on the remote, the TV screen flashed then turned off. Tossing the zapper away, Kame - with his idle cell in his hand - strolled towards his kitchen.
Kame quickly grabbed some drink and shoved it into his mouth. Wow… The feeling of cold water really did something to cure his scorch. And now when the problem was solved…
His cell phone was still not ringing!
Kame sighed. What could his friends be too busy doing and not caring about him? KAT-TUN members, you asked? A virtual list appeared itself before Kame’s imaginative eyes.
Jin: going out with Pi. Mabudachi, they say. Koibito Kame say.
Junno: off with his PS. Kame couldn’t believe that idiot saved enough money to buy a new game, and was now drowning himself into that.
Koki: off with his English class. It was Wednesday, dear. And why would Koki have English class on weekdays? Well, he did tell Kame he was courting a girl in that class sometime somehow and somewhere. Kame just couldn’t remember.
Ueda: Saa~ Second member of KAT-TUN going out with a NEWS member. Must be painful for the managers of both groups.
Last but not least, Maru: who was spending his ‘precious’ time having ‘precious’ dinner with his ‘precious’ family - directly taken from Maru’s speech.
Kame almost fainted when his list completed. Not one of his friend was free today. Uhm… try NEWS?
Pi and Ryo: Already mentioned above, out with Jin and Ueda respectively.
Tegoshi: This was just a guess, but he might just be cuddling with his little pillows right now. And everyone knew how ‘exploding’ cute Tego-chan could get when he was separated with his beloved pillow.
Massu: -Blank- Kame reminded himself to not call Massu for anything, especially when it involved entertainment. The guy would never shut up about it the next day.
Koyama and Shige: Together! -Interconnection, Kame could even hear crazed fangirls screaming something like ‘Koyato’.
Seriously, Kame was getting annoyed. Not a single person in Kanjani8 or Arashi had free time for him anymore. Even Kitagawa-san had business to take care of (and why would Kame want to spend time with that old producer?). Kame sighed… he used to be everyone’s favourite.
Hundreds of JE boys wanted a date with him. Even his best friend - Jin - or ex-best friend wanted him. And now? No one! Why was that?
Kame stared blankly at his cell phone. Still nothing. He had changed - that was what people said. And Kame cared not. They said he used to be so much of an innocent little turtle who was cute and cuddly. And after time, he started growing up, matured too much that he might just be older than his age.
Kame frowned. He took out his little mirror (for an idol, Kame had this advice: always bring a mirror with you, for appearance reason). Maybe they did have a point. Wrinkles could be seen on his face. He wondered… if he was really that old, or was it that he just looked - skimmed to closely at his face.
Ah, Kame forgot. He still had make up on his face. Hair gel, eyelashes, dark lipsticks and black nailpolish. In his opinion, he might just look ‘gothic’. But the fans loved it, right? If they did, and ‘LIPS’ sold well, then the weird makeups were worth it.
His admirers mentioned he looked ‘hotter’, but Kame suddenly had some feelings his friends didn’t think so… at all.
Kame put his cell down, finally decided to give up waiting. Instead, he started wiping off his makeup, cleaning them all up. LIPS PV shooting was over ages ago, then there was actually no reasons to keep these whatsoever.
Washing his face with fresh water, Kame suddenly felt strange…. as if waking up from a dream. It wasn’t a nightmare, but it wasn’t a good dream either. It was like an experience, something Kame himself would never forget. But now, when he got up, he wouldn’t fall for the same alluring again.
A smile curved on Kame’s lips. His face wet with pure waterdrops. Now that all his thoughts were figure out, an unexpected urge of hunger overcame him.
His cell phone still refused to move. It still didn’t budge.
“Fine!” Kame pouted. That was it! Tossing that useless piece of junk away, Kame grabbed his jacket and stormed out of his apartment.
The cold of night suffused him. Taking unstabled steps down the steep stairs, Kame gazed at the darkness. The sky, the forever beautiful night sky glazing all over the shrouded streets. The light of the moon felt so far away. It shimmered, but didn’t at all waver.
Sighing, Kame knew his stomach were calling out for him, secretly telling him to get something in ASAP. “Well… gotta go.”
Kame left his apartment, feeling sad, but at the same time hopeful. A new path had opened for him, but another path closed. How could his inconsiderate friends left him in this very beautiful day, this sacred day which they called ‘Valentine’?
A tear formed in the corner of Kame’s eyes. Walking on this lonely road, Kame could swear he felt this warm presence of a touching breeze. I’m still waiting for you.
“I’m still waiting for you… Kame…” Kame could hear somewhere in his heart, someone, or maybe many ‘someones’ were calling out for him. They needed him, he could feel them, but could not reach them. He ignored the strange voice, kept advancing.
One thing Kame didn’t know - Make it 3 then.
- Today was only 13, it wasn’t Valentine yet.
- His cell phone ran out of batteries 2 days ago.
- KAT-TUN and NEWS were suppose to go out for a movie. And Kame kept the tickets. Which rendered all his friends to be….
“KAME!!!! I’M STILL WAITING FOR YOU!” Jin glared menacingly at the wall.
“I still can’t reach him.” Koki shook his head disapprovingly. This was like the 8 millionth time he tried dialling Kame’s cell number.
All his friends were… waiting in front of the cinema, waiting, freezing and stomachs grumpling. And the film was long over.
“I’m gonna kill that guy.” Ryo snarled.
……..
“Ah-choo!” Kame sneezed. It was really a cold night, but he wasn’t that sensitive to the weather. Someone must have mentioned his name.
Nevermind that, Kame went back into eating his piping hot miso soup.
Um… It was so delicious. A grin curved on Kame’s countenance. He wondered if his friends were having any nice food…. Innocent indeed!
The next day, Valentine day, both KAT-TUN and NEWS (except for Kame) didn’t show up for work. They all ended up in the hospital with the same bad cold.
Owari.
