Though the first time it was mentioned was in jest, she felt the truth in her heart. They were a family, bound together by experiences and friendship rather than blood. Kurogane protects her and Shaoran as fiercely as any father, giving advice and discipline as needed. And she knows that he worries behind his mask of calm. Fai, despite his reluctance to become attached to any of them, was now incapable of parting. Though he usually left the physical battles to Kurogane, he had died in Outo protecting her and Mokona. She had faith in the pair; together they were so much stronger -more stable, despite Fai’s habit of aggravating the other man with jokes and things they refused to mention around her.
Mokona kept them together, a playful soul whose empathy matched her own. It kept them talking and tried its best to make the quest for her feathers more light-hearted.
Shaoran was different than her brother. Prince -then King- Touya teased her at every opportunity, lectured her with that knowing glint in his eyes. Like Shaoran, he strove to defend her from the world, to reassure her when she was sad. But there was something about Shaoran that made her feel more vulnerable, a subconscious desire to be with him.
Sometimes, she feels like she’s known him forever.
