"So. How's everything?" Jeremy turns down the radio as they head onto a quiet stretch of interstate. "Everything? Everythin' goin' just fine." Travis's tone is very non-commital as he lays his head back, staring out the window. The car remains silent for a few moments longer.
"Karen's not gonna be around that much." The satyr's head picks up at that notion, looking curiously at his brother. "She's got all sorts of family she hasn't seen in a long time, so she and I might take a day together after Christmas. I'm..." Jeremy pauses, trying to force a smile. "I'm sure we'll find somewhere to go, leave you to yourself if you want."
Guilt; the great weapon of the wronged. Travis shakes his head, searching for words.
"Look, Jer...."
"Travis, it's coo. Don't worry about it. I mean, you don't like her. Ain't nothin' gon..."
"Ain't nothin' gonna change that, I know. Don't mean that's gotta change you, y'know? I mean, it's your home, too. I don't wanna make you feel like you gotta do anything different."
"She's just worried about you."
"I don't need her to be worried about me, aight? She did her job with me and you two hooked up. Not her and I. She's only gotta take care of you. Not me."
"I'm worried about you too."
"The hell're you worried about?"
"Trav, you're in a place I ain't never been. You gotta chance to do somet..."
"I know what I got. I'm tryin'. Only got 1 D. It's gettin' better. Let's just go home."
