Ireland!

So, still working on the Ireland trip. Basically, I'm trying to finalize our route for the trip. We've decided we'd rather stay multiple nights in cities and towns whenever possible, because you can see SO MUCH MORE and not have to pack and unpack daily.

So right now, the plan is: Land on Thursday, drive to Dingle. Stay two nights in Dingle. On Saturday morning, drive to Galway, with a stop at the Cliffs of Mohr. It's a long-ish day of driving, but with a big stop in the middle and BEAUTIFUL scenery, no biggie. We'll take a Ferry to cut off some of the drive.

Saturday and Sunday night we'll stay in Galway or the Connemara region. I've never been to that part of Ireland, so I'm excited. Then on Monday morning, we'll take a Ferry to the Aran Islands. We may just do a day trip, or we might return to Galway for the night. The Aran Islands are remote and beautiful from what I've heard.

Tuesday morning, it's off to Dublin. Another longish day of driving, but with a big stop along the way at Clonmacnoise, an ancient ruin with a lot of high crosses and stuff to see. We'll actually stay in Dun Laoughaire, which is a short train ride from the city center.

Dublin, the main destinations will be Guinness (mmmmmmm) and Trinity College/Book of Kells, etc.

Thursday morning, we'll leave Dun Laoughaire/Dublin, and drive south. Visit the Rock of Cashel, and stay somewhere around there for the night. Friday morning, it's driving back to the airport for our flight to Boston, then home.

The biggest points of question revolve around Galway. Two nights and one night on the Aran Islands, or all three nights in Galway/Connemara, etc.

I also wish there was a way to not hit Dingle first thing, but driving wise, it seems the most logical route. I think I've been staring at the map for too long though, cause I fail to see any alternatives, and I know I need a fresh perspective.

So we'll see.

It's just after 12, and I'm hoping to be gone from here by 1 if I can get everything done...
