music rec: zemfira
am currently tripping on zemfira, russian rock band. at first i thought the band was techno/pop, because the very first song of theirs that i encountered was "Sums," the rather cleverly selected image song for the character Far Reach in Salad Days, an intriguing new webcomic - which, incidentally, i also recommend!
"Sums" is a shiny pretty song and it got me curious about the lead singer, after whom the band was named... found out to my frustration that there isn't much about her floating around on the web, in english. then discovered to my delight that there are downloadable mp3s of nearly the entire discography of zemfira at their official site. grabbed as much as i could get away with. including a brand spanking new, unedited LJ icon.
(to friends who can read/speak russian: if there's a warning anywhere on her site about downloading mp3s, i would appreciate the heads-up?)
